First Week Home
I have officially experienced my first week as a full time stay at home mom!! It was GREAT!!! Gavin and I had a blast all week-- we went grocery shopping and spent almost 2 hours in Wal-Mart, we both took 3 hour naps, we played games (peek-a-boo and giving high fives), we practiced waving bye bye, and started learning sign language. We spent an hour making, fixing, and eating lunch (Gavin really likes grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, and nectarines). We went swimming at Palm Beach (in Galveston) with some friends from church where we soaked up the sun and went down a water slide. Brooks had today off so we went shopping at the Galleria and ran into Shaquille O'Neal (he talked to Gavin in a store).

Brooks is LOVING me being home-- the house is clean, dinner is ready and on the table when he gets home, laundry is caught up, and I'm actually not exhausted at night so we can work out together.
Our trip to Palm Beach was a blast. We went with our with our new friends, Che (who is one of our group leaders) and her daughter Peyton (who is one week younger than Gavin). It was a wonderful chance for us to get to know one another and hang out. Gavin and Peyton got a long great and bonded in the back seat of the car (Peyton put her hand on Gavin's car seat, and then once we were at the beach, Gavin put his arm on Peyton's shoulder. Looks like we are going to have to talk to him sooner than later. HAHAHA
Overall, this was the beginning of a BEAUTIFUL new chapter in our lives!!

Filled with Joy
Last week I ended my teacher career and experienced MANY different emotions. I'm sad that that chapter in my life has ended, but when I woke up this morning and walked into Gavin's room and he was standing up on the edge of his bed smiling (as if he was waiting for me) my eyes quickly filled with tears... I realized that I have officially walked into my new role as a stay at home mom. Never again do I have to leave Gavin to go to work-- it's the two of us day in and day out!! I'm really excited to hang out with him and we have lots of things planed for the summer!!! As I was changing his diaper he had the biggest grin on his face and made a look with his eyes as if he was saying, "Mom, this is going to be great!!"
Along with my busy week last week- my brother and his wife welcomed a baby boy-- David Lawson Williams. He was 5lbs 4 oz and 19in long. He is TINY!! but PRECIOUS!! He has very distinct features and looks like his mom!!

Whoa!!! This was a BIG week!
Whoa!! We just had a really, really BIG week.

8. Gavin had his first taste of beef, beans, and guacomole- courtesy of the burritos we made.
I'm going to use this weeks post to catch everyone up on things that are going on in the Perry family-- I realize my blogs have been mostly about Gavin, but there was just so much that went on this week, I feel the need to share it ALL!
1. Brooks' brother, Brandon was in town so we stayed up past 9pm hanging out with him (are ya'll impressed?)
2. Brooks and I started Phase II of P90X (yes, we are doing this together and seeing some great results)
3. Gavin started pulling up on furniture!
4. Chevron Phillips (Brooks' company) annouced ALL families would live in Saudi versus Bahrain-- this is a HUGE change from what we've been planning, but it means we don't have to live apart!! Yea!! (Mom, Dad, Mrs. Missie, and Mr. Geary, we didn't know how to tell ya'll)
5. Brooks and I celebrated our 3 year Anniversary.
6. Brooks got me a portable hardrive to store all my pictures, audiobooks (mainly of the Twilight series which was AMAZING), and the video footage I'm going to get once I learn how to format and upload videos from our video camera.
7. I surprised Brooks with an IPhone!
8. Gavin had his first taste of beef, beans, and guacomole- courtesy of the burritos we made.
9. Brooks played on his IPhone.
10. We thought my sister in law, Anna, was going to have David.
11. I started packing up my classroom because in 2 weeks I'm done teaching!!
12. I got pulled over speeding-- yes, I was going 39 in a 30 (trying to get somewhere before 5pm and it was 4:50pm)-- however, I did NOT get a speeding ticket (I learned my lesson).
13. Brooks played on his IPhone some more.
14. We found out we're going to be an aunt and uncle again-- Kyle and Liz (my brother and sister in law) are pregnant with Baby #2!!! Yea-- we found out by skyping them and Neve (their little girl) was wearing a shirt that said "I'm a Big Sister". It was the cutest thing!!! They are due in January. this just means it's our turn to keep the rotation going.....
Which leads us to number 15!!!!
15. We're pregnant!!!
HAHA Just Kidding!!!!
I just couldn't come up with a number 15 to finish the post off. Hope ya'lls weeks are just as fun as ours!!

Swimming Pool
Gavin and I were in Lake Charles for the weekend- we went to my sister in laws baby shower-- David will be here in just a few weeks!! Yea!!
I bought him this spring loaded raft for him to sit in while playing in the big pool. I spent a lot of time at Wal-Mart choosing which raft to get for him and ultimately decided on the one that did not require any blowing up. I thought it would save time to just pop open the raft versus blowing up some crab shaped raft. Well, I opened the spring bound raft and put it in the pool and then placed Gavin in the little holder.... and he sunk!! I panicked. Gavin just stared really confused. So, I repositioned him and tried it again... and he sunk again. I was very frustrated seeing as how I spent a lot of time choosing this raft in particular. So, Anna, my sister-in-law, went and got the package it came in and read the directions for me. Yea, it's a spring bound raft that has 2 blow up floatation devices. I didn't know that. So, once we blew up the 2 little blow up parts to it and put him back in it for a third try, he stayed a float and moved around in the water. He LOVED it.

On Friday, we decided to go to the pool, since our beach trip on Wednesday, didn't allow Gavin to get into the water. We played in the baby pool for a while just to get him adjusted to the water. In the beginning, he was very timid and held on to me tightly, but after a while he was splashing and playing in the water.
I also decided to see how Gavin would do if I blew in his face and placed him under water for a second. He did pretty good. He never complained about it, but I think he was shocked to be covered in water. I've been trying to upload a video to show you his reactions and how he did-- but I haven't been successful at it!

Beach Fun
Yesterday, Gavin and I took our first trip to the beach with some really good friends of ours, Susie and her son, Cade. The boys' baby sitter was closed half of the day, so we decided to take the entire day off of work to play in the sun.

We drove down to Galveston and found a spot where we could lounge around and have sand that wasn't covered in seaweed. The sun wasn't shining (it came out here and there) and the wind was blowing sand EVERYWHERE BUT it was still a blast. Gavin played with Cade's shovel and Cade made little sand castle/shapes. We put our feet in the water- but the tide was a little rough- so we didn't go into the water. It was nice having a change of scenery and watching the boys play.
It was a perfect day! We love getting to spend time with the Carpenters!!! This was one of my favorite pics from the day!! The tail of this monkey was covered in sand...

Meat Eating, Army Crawling Machine
We have been having sooooo much fun the past few weeks. I feel like I say this all the time, but Gavin is growing up more and more everyday. His top 2 teeth FINALLY broke skin and he's starting to say his "m" sounds (maybe mama will be his next word). I think he just likes the feel of his teeth rubbing on his lips.

For Mother's Day, all I wanted was to hang out with Brooks and Gavin. (like the big drool stain?)
So, we went to church, had lunch at Carabba's, and then we all went home and took a REALLY long nap. Afterwards, we filled up Gavin's baby pool and let him "swim" around in it. The water from the water hose was really cold, so it took him a while to get use to it. Once we brought out some toys though, he LOVED it.
Gavin has started army crawling--- it's really cute to watch him glide across the floor. On Sunday, he started at the opening of our bathroom door and made it to our closet within 30 seconds.... he was booking it. He has been trying VERY hard to crawl on his knees, but so far, he's only been able to rock back and forth. He's starting to get frustrated with himself because he wants to move so badly, but can't unless he falls to his belly and crawls with his elbows. He loves chasing his toys though!
We also started giving Gavin his first meats this weekend. He was a little thrown off by the taste, but enjoyed it. We haven't had much luck with any other flavors other than Chicken and Apples, but we're still working on it.
