When I noticed Miles attempting to climb our iron gate railings outside like his big brother, I had to put the camera down before he had time to even climb up... I was kinda hoping he wouldn't figure out that was a climbing possibility too, but he now knows and tries all the time. I realize Miles could get hurt climbing anything if he falls off, but this spot scares me the most.. the concrete floors, the rocks and gravel underneath, the foot high step. UGH. Yikes. He certainly keeps us on our toes. I'm always looking for ways to prevent Miles from being able to climb things and I can't always be in the same room as him so last night, I gave in and turned all the dining room table chairs down... since taking this picture the legs aren't poking outwards anymore, they are positioned safely underneath the table-- all it took was Gavin running into the end chair and hitting his arm with the chair leg (he didn't even notice they were flipped over). When Miles finally noticed the chairs, he attempted to climb each one and then gave up once he realized it was no use. SCORE!!!

Literally, as I'm writing this post, Miles yells to me and I look over and here he is... on top of the train table. Geez. The other picture shows another aspect of us having to do certain things to contain Miles a little. We just added this gate between the play room and the kitchen so that I can cook meals without Miles underneath me. He's figured out how to turn the oven on and off and has done so several times with food still needing to cook. He attempts to open the oven which scares me to death so we really needed a way for him to stay out of danger. He can now open and close the refrigerator, so we had to put a lock on it. This gate also allows for me to put Brooklyn on her play mat in the kitchen without risking Miles stepping on top of her! Needless to say, we have some major child proofing going on around our house!

Even though Miles has been giving us a run for our money and is in need of constant attention, and has figured out how to throw some major temper tantrums, he's incredibly sweet and cuddly and has THE MOST contagious laugh!! We love our little tornado and all the fun and joy he brings to our lives.
Miles is 16 months old now. He is finally signing back to us (something I started teaching him when he was 10 months old). He does cup, eat, out, all done, and occasionally will sign more. He likes to roar and growl at you like a lion (Gavin taught him that). He says hi and waves bye bye and loves to blow kisses. His favorite play time is tackling Brooks and Gavin and goes after them with swords. It's precious! Every once in a while he even lets us dress him up in some of Gavin's dress up clothes. He's pretty cute!
