I made it to 36 weeks last Thursday and was very excited and relieved to have gotten to that point in this pregnancy, without Miles yet! I was waiting until I had my doctors appointment to post about this week incase there was any news to report. The only news we have to report is I'm NOT having ANY contractions-- none. zilch. nada. zero. Figures huh?!?!
So at my doctors appointment yesterday, when you are 36 weeks, they hook you up to the monitors to check your body's level of activity-- if you're contracting, cramping, tightening- anything. They also monitor the baby's heart rate based on any activity that your body is having. Miles did great-- all his numbers looked good and it was so sweet to listen to his heartbeat for 20 minutes. I wish I would have thought to take a picture of Brooks while he was sitting in the chair across from me, just waiting. I noticed he was in his "waiting" position that he stayed in during Gavin's labor and delivery. We both thought about how that time was coming again in a matter of a few weeks. Our favorite part about the whole appointment was how they kept Brooks out of the room and pulled a curtain up in order to prep me for the monitor. They weren't allowing him to see me until my body was covered back up with a sheet. It was hysterical, not to mention that the only part of my body/skin that was showing was my stomach, where they wrapped the monitors around my belly. He came in and saw me all covered up and we just laughed. I'm really curious how they handle me and him when I do go into labor. It's not like my husband hasn't seen my bare stomach before. Oh well, good laughs, and good stories to tell in the future!! When we met with the doctor, he discussed with us how next week he will start "examining me" and he wants to make sure I'm prepared for that. Give me a break-- I wanted to be like, sir, you could have been examining me for the last 3 months and I wouldn't have thought twice about it, but I understand how and why they do the things they do. Anyways, he also mentioned that based on what my body is showing or if any changes have taken place-- dilation, thinning, effacement, Miles position/location, we would DISCUSS options for planning the birth. We'll see how things go. Brooks and I aren't rushing to make any decisions regarding inducing, HOWEVER, living an hour away from the hospital makes for an enticing offer/thought on our part to be able to schedule and know exactly when Miles would be entering the world! Not to mention, if he did come before his due date, it would help give us a little more time with getting all of Miles paper work submitted, processed, and sent to us in order for us to go back to the states in March!! woo hoo! We'll keep you posted!!
Thanks for praying for us the last few weeks as my body was teasing us. Once again, bed rest works and our goal was accomplished!!
