Shocking News and My parents came to town

Before I write about my parents and their trip to Saudi I wanted to let you all know I went to the doctor yesterday and found out that I'm 3cm dilated and 80% effaced.  My doctor said he'd be surprised if I made it to Saturday.  He offered to schedule an induction on Saturday if I wasn't to have him on my own before then (because that's the day my doctor is on call), but Brooks and I just can't make that decision to have Miles on Christmas day.  We decided that we'd just let him come on his own in the next few days and when we go back to the doctor on Monday, we will then make a decision to either induce during the week or on Saturday, January 1st (because that's when my doctor is on call).  We're not as enthusiastic about having Miles on New Years Day either, however, the farther along I go and the closer I get to my due date-- the more we become anxious about traveling to our hospital, which is over an hour away while I'm in labor.  Over here, a different doctor is on call at the hospital each day so it's not like back home when you call your doctor's office, tell them you're in labor and then they come to deliver you.  I'd LOVE to have my doctor be the one that delivers Miles, but I'm willing to allow "an exception" if it means preventing Miles from being due on Christmas and/or in a car (okay just kidding about the car).

ON TO EVEN MORE EXCITING NEWS!!!

My parents made it to Saudi last night.  We were so excited for them to get here, yesterday seemed like THE.LONGEST.DAY.   We picked them up at the airport around 10:30pm.  They made it through security, customs, and baggage in less then 20 minutes and none of their bags got checked, searched, or even opened!!  WOO HOO!  Great news for us seeing as how they brought us A LOT of much needed necessities from the states.

We were up pretty late getting settled in so this morning we hung around the house and just relaxed.  My parents surprised Gavin this morning walking down the stairs and he was really, really excited to see them.  I caught the moment on video but have to work on getting it loaded to my computer- it was cute and sweet.  I brought my parents with me to the local grocery store to pick up a few groceries so they got their first experience at Saudi life.  They played with Gavin after lunch and taught him how to climb his first tree.   We all took a long nap during the day and then went to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants downtown.  It is soooooo wonderful having them here!  It's perfect timing, too!

We'll keep you all posted on Miles.  Hope you have a blessed week and a very Merry Christmas!
